This lakefront property near Morse Reservoir is a great example of how a fresh mulch install can completely change the feel of a yard. The tiered retaining walls running down toward the water already had solid bones - established shrubs, ornamental grasses, and landscape lighting throughout. But beds that haven't been freshened up in a while start to look tired and thin, no matter how healthy the plants are.

That's exactly what fresh mulch fixes. A clean layer of dark mulch does a few things at once. It locks in moisture so the plants aren't fighting the heat as hard. It suppresses weeds so you're not spending every weekend pulling them. And honestly, the visual difference is night and day - that deep, rich color makes the greens pop and gives the whole landscape a finished, intentional look.

What we love about a property like this is how the tiered layout really lets the mulch work. Each level gets its own clean bed, neatly bordered by the retaining walls, so nothing looks muddled or overgrown. From the dock looking up toward the house, you've got layered texture - grasses, shrubs, ground cover - all framed by fresh black mulch. It reads sharp and well-kept from every angle.

Lakefront properties take a beating. Between the humidity, the foot traffic, and the general wear of being outdoors near the water, the landscape needs to work harder. Keeping the beds healthy and maintained isn't just about looks - it protects the plants and the investment that went into building out those retaining walls and lighting in the first place. A mulch refresh is one of the simplest ways to stay ahead of that.
